The Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group is one of the oldest human rights organizations in Ukraine whose legacy can be traced back to the dissident movement of the 1970-80s. KHPG was established in 1988 as a human rights protection group of the Kharkiv Memorial.
KHPG's mission is to protect human rights and basic freedoms from abuse by the state and help the state in the affirmation and protection of such rights and freedoms. The organization provides free legal counsel in courts and creates legal precedents.
After Russia's invasion into Ukraine KHPG has been systematically documenting international crimes, providing support to the victims and publishing eye witness accounts of the war.
